MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say an arrest was made Thursday night in connection to the arson fire that closed a Wisconsin elementary school for the rest of the school year.

The Roberts Police Department said that the arrest was made around 5 p.m. The suspect is expected to be charged Friday with “several state violations.”

The suspect’s name was not released.

The arrest came one day after authorities offered a $5,000 reward for information about the St. Croix Central Elementary School arson.

On Tuesday morning, firefighters battled a fire at the school that likely started near the school’s administrative offices and library.

There were signs of a forced entry before the fire started, authorities said.

The loss value of the school and contents is estimated to be approximately $1.5 million.

Kids at St. Croix Elementary will have to go to class at a nearby Girl Scout camp for the rest of the year.
